The original Angel of Hope was a bronze statue of an angel, a featured character in a fictional novel written by Richard Paul Evans in the early 1990’s. The statue represented hope and solace to parents who had lost a child.
The first actual statue was dedicated on December 6, 1994 in Salt Lake City by the author, Richard Paul Evans.
An organic movement began, founded by grieving parents all over the country to have an Angel of Hope statue in their community. Today, there are almost 200 Angel of Hope statues in the United States.
The Angel of Hope in Central Florida was dedicated on December 6, 2010, by a group of grieving parents and professionals. These dedicated parents host two candlelight remembrance ceremonies each year at the site in Altamonte Springs.
The first ceremony of the year is on October 15th, the National Day of Remembrance for Pregnancy & Infant Loss. The second is on December 6th and is for parents who lost a child of any age. Both ceremonies are held at the site and begin at 7:00 p.m.
