S.2746 – Sudden Unexpected Death Data Enhancement and Awareness Act
PASSED AND SIGNED INTO LAW BY PRESIDENT OBAMA IN DECEMBER 2014 –
4,500 infants under the age of one die suddenly and unexpectedly (SUID) each year and more than 2000 never have a medical diagnosis – a CAUSE of death. There are children who are over one that die and also have no CAUSE of death found. The United States does not have a consistent manner to look at these deaths.
This bill helps develop, monitor, access, and develop standards for the determination of death, scene investigation, and autopsy protocol.
Most important to parents is to find out WHY their beautiful children die and as written in the text of the bill, “This section shall not be construed to increase the amount of appropriations that are authorized to be appropriated for any fiscal year.”
